| There are people who are bridges. Bridges between others who - mistakenly - think of themselves as adversaries. Bridges between yesterday's confrontations and tomorrow's agreements. Mette Koefoed Bjornsen is one of those bridges. As Denmark's labour mediator, she stands between unions and employers and shows them where their common interest lies; meticulously she wears down mutual distrust, fills in the chasm of misunderstanding until it has disappeared and a new path takes its place. All those who come into contact with her know that she possesses that rare, perfectly inflexible and generous gift: a social instinct. |
