Torture continues even after it has stopped: long after the event, the suffering goes on. Trauma, phobias, insomnia, inability to cope with life - these are the scars left behind by the horrific acts of torture performed on the bodies and minds of living human beings. Victims may survive, may be set free, but remain imprisoned in a web of irrational fears, haunted by memories ... Inge Kemp Genefke, a Danish psychologist, is determined to rescue her patients from this trap. Her rehabilitation centre helps torture victims look to the future and think about rebuilding their lives. The intelligence of this woman and her team is a tonic in itself - one for which the demand is far too great.
