We all have our problems, some of them serious. But today our most serious problems are the problems we share, everyone's problems. For a long time now Edward Goldsmith has been thinking about the future of the Earth, when there will be no more drinking water and no more trees, and life can no longer be sustained. He asks us what will be left then of our individual problems. To put this question, and to prevent us from ignoring it, to force us to respond, he founded a magazine, The Ecologist.
