His father was assassinated when trying to reconcile the Israeli and Palestinian peoples. This family tragedy must have given Bryan Guinness an unusual vision of political destiny, one in which sincerity and serenity counted for a lot. Poet and novelist, author rather than speaker, a member of the House of Lords, he worked towards reuniting Ireland, his native land, and Britain, where he worked, in Europe. In his father's mould, he seeks harmony.
