After a war comes reconstruction: of towns and of men. Edzard Reuter has tirelessly helped those who fled from Germany, or were excluded, to return to their country, to resettle in peace, and to find their proper place. At the beginning of the Hitler explosion, he had to leave the country with his father, an opponent of Nazi policy. He knows what it means to be cut off from one's country, cut off from oneself. He knows the difficulties of returning home in a continent torn apart, dismembered, ruined. Today he presides over the destinies of Daimler-Benz. It is right that the heads of leading companies should be men who know the price of pain and the price of honour.
