Palermo. A Jesuit takes on the Mafia. An unequal match? Indeed, it is. Bartolomeo Sorge is a teacher. He sets up schools which impart a moral sense impervious to the blandishments of blackmail and murder. The young people who will one day be called upon to govern Italy will, like him, be opponents of the Mafia. The Mafia has its killers. But he has the future, the inexorable future, which is on his side.
