Sometimes a great love affair happens between men and cities. Perhaps one of the most moving was Jacek Wozniakowski's love for Cracow. Cracow was his city. He watched it sinking beneath waves of pollution. Soon it would disappear, be uninhabitable, the air foul, its aspect hideous. He decided to act, ready to die for such a cause. Courage was rewarded, and today the city he loves is in better health. If, one day, our grandchildren can visit and admire it, they can thank the energy and spirit of a Professor of Art History who embellished this corner of history.
